Strepsils - Benefits, dosage and side effects

Strepsils are useful for relieving sore throatsskirt due to infection. Strepsill is available in the form of lozenges with several flavors.

In each grain, Strepsils contains 1.2 mg dichlorobenzyl alcohol and 600 mcg amylmetacresol. Dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmetacresol is an antiseptic that is useful for relieving sore throats and relieving complaints due to sores or inflammation in the mouth.

Types and Content of Strepsils

There are several variants of Strepsils sold in Indonesia, namely:

  • Original Strepsils
  • Menthol flavored Strepsils
  • Strepsils menthol and vanilla flavor
  • Strepsils lemon and honey flavor
  • Lemon flavored sugar free strepsils
  • Strepsils vitamin C orange flavor

All types of Strepsils have the same content. Special Strepsils vitamin C orange flavor, contains additional ingredients in the form of 100 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C).

Warnings Before Taking Strepsils:

  • Strepsils should not be taken by children under 6 years of age.
  • Do not take Strepsils if you have a history of allergies to any of the ingredients in this product.
  • Be careful taking Strepsils if you have fructose intolerance, impaired glucose and galactose absorption, or sucrose-isomaltose insufficiency.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy before taking Strepsils.
  • Immediately see a doctor if sore throat still persists after 3 days of taking Strepsils.
  • Immediately see a doctor if you experience a drug allergic reaction or overdose after taking Strepsils.

Dosage and Instructions for Use of Strepsils

The dosage of Strepsils to relieve canker sores and sore throat for adults and children over the age of 6 years is 1 tablet every 2-3 hours or as recommended by a doctor. Do not take more than 12 Strepsils tablets in a day.

Strepsils Interactions with Other Drugs

It is not known whether the consumption of Strepsils with other drugs can cause drug interactions. To avoid unwanted effects, you should first ask your doctor before taking Strepsils, if you are taking certain drugs.

How to Take Strepsils Correctly

Take Strepsils tablets by sucking them slowly until they dissolve in the mouth, according to the dosage described above. To maintain its quality, store Strepsils in a room with a temperature below 30°C.

Strepsils Side Effects

There are some side effects that may arise from taking Strepsils, but the frequency of occurrence of these side effects has not been reported. The two side effects are:

  • Allergic drug reactions, such as itching in the mouth and throat
  • Glossodynia or a burning sensation in the mouth and tongue

If you experience any of the above side effects, stop taking Strepsils and consult a doctor immediately.
