Fungiderm - Benefits, dosage and side effects

Fungiderm is useful for treatingfungal infection on the skin and nails.  Some diseases that can be treated with Fungiderm include water fleas, tinea versicolor, ringworm, and fungal infections of the nails. Fungiderm is available in the form of 5 mg and 10 mg ointments.

Fungiderm contains the active ingredient clotrimazole. Clotrimazole works by inhibiting the growth of fungi. Fungiderm is an over-the-counter drug that is used only for the skin and nails.

 Precautions Before Using Fungiderm

  • Do not use Fungiderm ointment if you are allergic to clotrimazole and to azole antifungal drugs, ketoconazole, or miconazole.
  • Tell your doctor about any medications, vitamins, supplements, and herbal remedies you are currently taking, before using Fungiderm.
  • Immediately see a doctor if an allergic reaction occurs after using Fungiderm.

Dosage and Instructions for Use of Fungiderm

The dose and duration of treatment depend on the type of fungal infection being treated. The following is the dosage of Fungiderm for adults and children aged 3 years and over which are grouped based on the conditions experienced:

  • Condition: ringworm or ringworm (tinea corporis)

    Dosage: 2 times a day, for 4 weeks.

  • Condition: groin fungus (tinea cruris)

    Dosage: 2 times a day, for 2 weeks.

  • Condition: water fleas (tinea pedis)

    Dosage: 2 times a day, for 4-8 weeks.

  • Condition: cutaneous candidiasis (cutaneous candidiasis) or tinea versicolor

    Dosage: 2 times a day, for 2-4 weeks.

  • Condition: tinea unguium (nail fungus)

    Dosage: use according to nail conditions or doctor's instructions.

  • Condition: tinea capitis and tinea barbae

    Dosage: 2-3 times a day, for 10-14 or as directed by a doctor.

How to Use Fungiderm Correctly

Clean and dry the skin before using Fungiderm cream. Apply the medicine to cover the entire area affected by the fungal infection and the surrounding area.

Avoid applying Fungiderm ointment in the eye, nose, mouth, or vaginal area. Don't forget to wash your hands after using this medicine.

Do not cover or coat the skin that has been smeared with medication with any material, except as directed by a doctor.

Use Fungiderm regularly, for as long as the doctor recommends, even if the symptoms you feel have disappeared or subsided. Stopping the drug before the recommended time can cause the yeast infection to recur.

Tell your doctor if your yeast infection doesn't improve or if it gets worse after 4 weeks of using Fungiderm.

If you forget to use Fungiderm, use it immediately if the break with the next schedule is not too close. If it is close, ignore it and do not double the dose.

Store Fungiderm at room temperature, away from heat and humidity. Keep Fungiderm out of reach of children.

Fungiderm and Other Drug Interactions

Avoid using Fungiderm containing clotrimazole together with tacrolimus, because it can increase the levels of tacrolimus in the body.

Fungiderm Side Effects and Dangers

The content of clotrimazole in Fungiderm can cause side effects in the form of itchy, burning skin, dryness, redness, or bumps like pimples appear. If the symptoms do not go away or get worse, see a doctor.

Immediately see a doctor if severe side effects occur, such as blisters on the skin and anaphylactic reactions, such as swollen lips and face, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath.
