Desoximetasone is a drug to relieve symptom inflammation, itching, and redness of the skin due to psoriasis, eczema, allergies, or skin disorders (dermatosis) which responsive to corticosteroid drugs.

  • Do not use desoximetasone if you are allergic to this drug. Tell your doctor about your history of allergies, especially if you are allergic to corticosteroids, such as hydrocortisone and prednisone.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, impaired blood circulation, or a compromised immune system.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had a skin infection, liver disease, or adrenal gland disorder.

Dosage and Instructions for Use Desoximetasone

The dose of the drug prescribed by the doctor will be adjusted to the condition and age of the patient. The following are common doses of desoximetasone:

  • Condition: psoriasis

    Adults and children: Apply the medicine 2 times a day on the problem areas of the skin.

  • Condition: Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses

    Mature: Apply the medicine 2 times a day on the problem areas of the skin.

How to Use Desoximetasone Correctly

Follow your doctor's recommendations and read the directions on the package before using desoximetasone. Do not increase or decrease the dose without consulting your doctor first.

Before applying desoximetasone, wash and dry your hands and the skin to be smeared. After that, apply and smooth this medicine on the problem skin.

Desoximetasone should not be used on injured skin areas. Do not apply this medication on the face, armpits, or genitals and do not cover the areas of skin that have been smeared with desoximetasone, except as directed by your doctor.

Wash immediately with clean water if desoximetasone gets in your eyes, nose, mouth, or other areas other than those treated. After applying this medicine, wash your hands again.

Try to take desoximetasone at the same time each day for maximum effectiveness.

If you forget to use desoximetasone, use the drug immediately if the interval with the next scheduled use is not too close. If it is close, ignore it and do not double the dose.

Store desoximetasone in a cool, dry place. Keep the medicine away from direct sunlight and keep the medicine out of reach of children.

Interactions of Desoximetasone with Other Drugs

The following are the effects of drug interactions that may occur if desoximetasone is used together with certain medicines:

  • Decreased therapeutic effect of corticorelin, hyaluronidase, or the kidney cancer drug aldesleukin
  • Increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) when used with ceritinib
  • Increased risk of side effects from deferasirox
