Norit - Benefits, dosage and side effects

Norit is useful for treating poisoning and indigestion, such as flatulence and diarrhea. This drug in tablet form contains activated carbon or activated charcoal.

Activated carbon works by absorbing substances that cause poisoning. Although activated carbon can be used to treat poisoning, it is not used to treat alcohol and cyanide poisoning.

Norit Interactions with Other Drugs

Norit can cause a number of drug interaction effects if taken in combination with other drugs, including:

  • Decreased absorption of certain drugs, such as paracetamol, digoxin, theophylline, tricyclic antidepressants, and warfarin.
  • Decreased effectiveness of methionine.

In general, Norit is safe for consumption. Even so, this drug can cause constipation, turn stool black, or even cause diarrhea to continue. In addition, the following side effects may also occur due to the use of drugs containing activated carbon:
