Dosage and Instructions for Use of Dexamethasone Harsen/Holi

The dose of Dexamethasone Harsen/Holi will be given by the doctor according to the condition and age of the patient. In general, the following are the dosages of Dexamethasone Harsen/Holi based on the goals and age of the patient:

Purpose: Overcoming inflammation or autoimmune disease

  • Mature: The initial dose is 0.5–9 mg per day which is divided into several consumption schedules. The maximum dose is 1.5 mg per day.
  • Children: The initial dose is 0.02–0.3 mg/kgBW per day which is divided into 3-4 consumption schedules. The dose will be adjusted according to the severity and response of the patient.

Purpose: Overcome multiple sclerosis

  • Mature: Initial dose is 30 mg daily for the first week, followed by 4–12 mg every subsequent day, for 1 month.

Purpose: Diagnosing Cushing's syndrome

  • Mature: 2 mg every 6 hours for 2 days. After the last dose, the doctor will measure the patient's plasma cortisol level.

The use of Dexamethasone Harsen/Holi has the potential to cause a number of side effects, including:

  • Weight gain
  • Appetite increases
  • Hard to sleep
  • Irregular menstrual cycle or no menstruation
  • Abdominal pain or burning sensation in the chest (heartburn)
