Ointment for scalded wounds

Spilled hot water can make the skin get injured burn. To fix this, you can apply ointment for scalded wounds, after doing first aid measures.

In addition to pain, scalded with hot water can also cause burns to the skin. The severity of a scalded burn can vary, depending on the location and size of the affected skin area.

Hot Water First Aid

When scalded with hot water, do not immediately apply the ointment, but first give first aid to the burn. The following are first aid steps that need to be taken when scalded by hot water:

  • Flush skin with running water or tap water for at least 20 minutes. Do not use ice cubes, ice water, or oily ingredients, such as butter.
  • If the scalded area covers a large part of your body, don't soak in cold water. This can lead to loss of body heat and will actually worsen the condition of the burn.
  • Remove any jewelry or clothing near areas of scalded skin. However, if there are items that stick right in the wound, do not remove them so as not to cause more severe damage to the skin tissue.
  • Cover the wound with a clean damp bandage or cloth.
  • If possible, position the scalded area higher
  • If the skin is blistered, do not break it.
  • If the wound hurts, take painkillers, such as paracetamol.

Use a special ointment for scalded wounds

After performing the above first aid, you can apply cream or ointment for scalded wounds. But keep in mind that this ointment should only be used on minor burns. Some examples of creams or ointments for scalded wounds are:

Ointment silver sulfadiazine

This ointment is generally used to help prevent and treat infection in burns. Silver sulfadiazine works by stopping the growth of bacteria and reducing the risk of spreading it to the surrounding skin area.

This ointment should not be used on premature babies or babies who are only 2 months old, because it can cause side effects.

Before applying the ointment silver sulfadiazineFirst, clean the area of the skin that was exposed to hot water. Use this ointment regularly until the burned area heals completely.

Cream sorbolene

Burns can make the skin dry and itchy, even after it heals. To reduce this complaint, you can use cream sorbolene water based. Meanwhile, to reduce scars, you can use creams sorbolene mixed with vitamin E.

In addition to the two ointments above, you can also apply petroleum jelly or aloe vera thinly on the wound scalded with hot water. Avoid using ointments or creams that contain sodium lauryl sulfate, as they can make dry skin worse.

When you have a scalded burn, do first aid and use an ointment for burns as described above. In addition, also check with a doctor to determine the severity of the burn and get further treatment.
