Oskadon - Benefits, dosage and side effects

Oskadon is useful for relieving headaches, toothaches, pain, and reduce fever. This drug is only available in tablet form.

Oskadon contains the active ingredients paracetamol, ibuprofen, and caffeine anhydrous. This combination of drugs works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, thereby helping to relieve pain and fever.

Oskadon Products:

Oskadon has three types of products with different ingredients, namely:

  • Oskadon

    Oskadon Original contains 500 mg of paracetamol and 35 mg of caffeine, which work actively in pain centers, such as headaches and toothaches. This product is in tablet form.

  • Extra Oskadon

    Oskadon Extra contains 350 mg of paracetamol, 200 mg of ibuprofen, and 50 mg of caffeine, which work actively to treat gripping headaches. This product is in tablet form.

  • Oskadon SP

    Oskadon SP contains 350 mg of paracetamol and 200 mg of ibuprofen, which work actively to treat aches and pains and muscle aches. This product is in tablet form.

It is not known whether Oskadon can be absorbed into breast milk or not. If you are breastfeeding, do not use this medicine without consulting your doctor first.

Warning Before Taking Oskadon

  • Do not use Oskadon if you have a history of allergies to the ingredients contained in Oskadon.
  • Do not take alcohol with Oskadon, as it can increase the risk of liver damage.
  • Do not give Oskadon to children under 2 years of age, without a doctor's advice.
  • Please be careful using Oskadon if you suffer from kidney disorders or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including supplements and herbal products.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy before taking Oskadon.
  • Immediately consult a doctor if you experience an overdose or drug allergic reaction after taking Oskadon.

Dosage and Rules for Using Oskadon

The following is the distribution of Oskadon dosage for adult patients according to its type:

  • Oskadon

    1 tablet, 3-4 times a day.

  • Extra Oskadon

    1 tablet, 3-4 times a day.

  • Oskadon SP

    1 tablet, 3-4 times a day.

How to Use Oskadon Correctly

Follow the doctor's instructions or the information listed on the medicine package when using Oskadon.

Make sure you use Oskadon according to the recommended dosage. To be safe, do not increase the dose of Oskadon without consulting your doctor first.

Oskadon can be consumed before or after meals. Use a glass of water to swallow Oskadon tablets.

Do not extend the period of use of Oskadon if your condition has improved. Long-term use of Oskadon has the risk of disrupting kidney health.

Store Oskadon at room temperature. Keep this medicine away from direct sunlight and humid air, and keep it out of reach of children.

Oskadone Interactions with Other Drugs

If used with other drugs, the paracetamol content in Oskadon can cause drug interactions, in the form of:

  • Increased risk of liver damage, if used with isoniazid.
  • Increased risk of bleeding, if used with anticoagulant drugs.
  • Increased risk of fatal side effects when used with sodium fusidate.

Side Effects and Dangers of Oskadon

Oskadon is a safe drug when used according to the instructions for use. Although rare, the paracetamol content contained in Oskadon can cause several side effects, namely:

  • Back pain
  • Sore throat
  • Ulcer
  • Yellow skin and eyes
  • Bruises on the skin
  • Body feels weak and tired

Paracetamol rarely causes overdose because the safe dose limit is quite high. Even so, if taken too much, paracetamol can still cause an overdose which is characterized by:

  • Diarrhea
  • A cold sweat
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Stomach pain and stomach cramps
