Treating Tendon Inflammation at Home

Tendons are thick tissues that serve to attacheFish muscle to bone. Whatever activities you do, they all involve the movement of the tendons in the joints. The activities that done suddenly, repeatedly, and often, can cause small tears in the tendons to cause tendon inflammation.

Inflammation of the tendons, otherwise known as tendinitis, must be treated with proper care. If not treated, the inflammation of the tendon can get worse and there is even a possibility of the tendon breaking. If this happens, you will need to have surgery.

This is a Treatment for Inflammation of the Tendons

In fact, tendinitis can occur in any tendon in the body. However, the tendons that are most commonly inflamed are the shoulders, elbows, thumbs, knees, wrists, hips, and ankles.

Before tendonitis or tendinitis becomes more severe, there are steps you can take to treat it. The following remedies can speed up the healing process and prevent further damage:

  • Resting sore tendons

Rest the part of the body that has tendinitis so that the inflammation and swelling doesn't get worse. However, you can still do light activities that don't overwork the tendons.

  • Mengcompress with ice

To reduce swelling and pain, compress the inflamed tendon with an ice cube wrapped in a cloth. Do it several times a day for 20 minutes until the pain in the inflammation subsides. That way, the tendon can return to its original state and function as usual. Don't forget to lift the compressed area higher and cover it with a bandage to make it more effective.

  • Take anti-inflammatory drugs

To reduce pain and swelling, take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as paracetamol, aspirin, and ibuprofen, as directed by your doctor. If the inflammation of the tendon is near the surface of the skin, you can use a pain relief cream or gel to make the pain go away faster.

  • Doing stretch

If the tendinitis is not severe, you can stretch slowly. Stretching can help reduce muscle tension or stiffness, increase range of motion, and improve blood circulation. Consult with your doctor in advance about the recommended stretching technique and duration.

  • Mengguse joint support

Tendinitis occurs in the wrist, elbow, or knee? Consider using protective gear or joint supports. With this device, the affected tendon is protected and you can still move. Please note that not moving the problematic joint at all is also not recommended.

If the inflammation of the tendon does not improve after you perform the above treatments, consult a doctor immediately. If the tendon has ruptured, you may be referred to an orthopedic specialist. However, if the condition of the tendon problem is not too severe, the doctor will usually advise you to do physiotherapy or give steroid anti-inflammatory drugs if needed.
