There are many symptoms that are often associated with the term heartburn. Some of them are discomfort in the throat, pain when swallowing, chapped lips, and bad breath.

The term heat is not known in the medical world. The condition described by the public as heartburn is actually not a disease, but a collection of symptoms of a sore throat, or an early symptom of a viral or bacterial infection.

According to traditional medicine, heartburn can arise when a person eats too many foods that are processed at high temperatures, such as grilled and fried meat, or certain foods, such as durian, chocolate, or heavily seasoned foods. However, this cannot be explained scientifically.

Heartburn due to ARI generally begins with symptoms in the form of itching, pain, and heat in the throat. In addition to complaints in the throat, ARI is also often accompanied by sneezing, nasal congestion, coughing, and fever within 2-3 days afterward.

Symptoms of heartburn due to throat irritation are similar to those in ARI. Throat irritation can be caused by exposure to air pollution, hot food or drinks, or excessive use of sound

Nacid reflux (stomach acid reflux)  

Heartburn that leads to gastric acid reflux often appears in the middle of the night while sleeping or in the morning when you wake up, accompanied by a burning or stinging feeling in the pit of the stomach and a feeling of choking in the throat.

How to Relieve Internal Heat

Not all internal heat refers to a disease that requires treatment with drugs. There are several things you can do at home to relieve heartburn symptoms, including:

 1. Get enough rest and avoid exposuresmoke

Make sure you get enough rest to help strengthen your immune system against germs.

Also avoid exposure to smoke, such as cigarette smoke and vehicle fumes, which can make throat discomfort worse. If you have to be in a place with a lot of smoke, wear a mask to protect your respiratory tract.

 2. Drink water

Water will help moisturize the throat and prevent dehydration. Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, which can dehydrate the body more quickly. You can also drink warm water mixed with honey to make the throat more comfortable.

 3. Gargle with water salt

Gargling with a mixture of warm water and salt can help relieve heartburn symptoms. This mixture can be made by dissolving teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water.

 4. Eat foods that make your throat comfortable

So that the throat is comfortable, consume warm soup and ice cream. In addition, green tea, mangosteen, and watermelon are also believed to help relieve symptoms of heartburn.

Some herbal remedies are known to be useful for soothing the throat and are generally packaged in the form of candy or herbal medicine. However, medical research is still very limited to explain the work of herbal medicines. Therefore, you should first consult with your doctor before using herbal/alternative drugs.

6. Menadopt a healthy lifestyle

If the symptoms of heartburn that are felt lead to increased stomach acid, you should avoid eating large amounts of food before going to bed. Set your mealtime so that mealtime is not close to bedtime.

If you are overweight, try to lose weight, because this is one of the factors that increase the risk of acid reflux. Avoiding stress, cigarettes, and alcoholic beverages can also prevent heartburn associated with acid reflux.

You can apply the methods above to relieve heartburn complaints. However, if the symptoms do not improve, you should immediately consult a doctor, so that appropriate treatment can be given.
