Mioma - Symptoms, causes and treatment

Uterine fibroids or miom is a lump or benign tumors that grow in the uterus. Uterine fibroids or fibroids can grow on the inside or outside of the uterus part outside.

A woman who has fibroids can have more than one tumor in her uterus. Myoma symptoms that appear in sufferers depend on the size, location and number of tumors in the uterus.

Myoma Symptoms

Myoma generally does not cause symptoms in sufferers. However, if symptoms appear, the patient may experience heavy menstrual bleeding that lasts more than a week, clotted blood coming out of the vagina, lower abdominal pain, and frequent urination. In certain cases, fibroids can also cause vaginal bleeding after sex.

Causes of Mioma

The cause of fibroids is not known with certainty, but there are several things that can increase the risk of developing fibroids. One of them is an increase in the hormone estrogen, for example in the menstrual cycle or pregnancy.

While the factors that can reduce the risk of myoma is a history of childbirth. Women who have given birth have a lower risk of developing fibroids.

Myoma diagnosis

Myomas sometimes go undiagnosed because they often cause no symptoms. However, fibroids can be detected during a routine check-up with a gynecologist. To be sure, the obstetrician can perform an ultrasound or MRI examination.

Sometimes, the symptoms of fibroids and uterine cysts can be similar. Therefore, the examination can also determine whether the symptoms that appear are caused by fibroids or cysts.

Myoma treatment

In cases of fibroids that are small and cause no symptoms, no treatment is needed because they can shrink on their own. However, the sufferer still needs to undergo regular check-ups to monitor the condition of his myoma.

Meanwhile, in fibroids that cause symptoms, the treatment is in the form of hormone therapy to prevent the development of fibroids and relieve symptoms, or surgery to remove the myomas.

Myoma complications

Although rare, fibroids can still cause complications in sufferers. Complications that can arise due to fibroids are anemia, infertility, and disorders during pregnancy due to fibroids.
