  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had asthma, heart disease, hypertension, liver disease, peptic ulcer, heart failure, edema, kidney disease, gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor that you are on treatment with Cataflam before undergoing certain medical procedures or surgery. Cataflam should not be taken by patients who have recently undergone heart bypass surgery.
  • If after taking Cataflam you feel dizzy, drowsy, or experience blurred vision, then do not drive a vehicle or do activities that require alertness.
  • As much as possible limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages while you are undergoing treatment with Cataflam, because it will increase the risk of side effects.

Dosage and Instructions for Use of Cataflam

The dose of Cataflam is different for each patient. The doctor will determine the dose according to the patient's health condition. The following is the dosage of Cataflam based on its intended use:

  • Purpose: Relieves pain, such as menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea

    The dose is 50–100 mg, 3 times a day

  • Purpose: Relieve complaints osteoarthritis

    The dosage is 50 mg, 2-3 times a day

  • Purpose: Relieve complaints rheumatoid arthritis

    The dosage is 50 mg, 3-4 times a day

How to Take Cataflam Correctly

Take Cataflam according to the doctor's recommendations and the instructions on the medicine package. Do not change the dose without consulting your doctor first.

Cataflam should be taken after meals to avoid heartburn. Avoid lying down for at least 10 minutes after taking this medicine.

If you are taking Cataflam in tablet form, drink a glass of water to help swallow the tablets. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet as this may increase side effects.

If you are taking Cataflam in powder form, dissolve it in 30–60 ml of water before drinking.

If you forget to take Cataflam, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of your next dose, ignore the missed dose and do not double the dose of Cataflam to make up for the missed dose.

Store Cataflam in a place away from direct sunlight. Keep this medicine out of reach of children.

Cataflam Interactions with Other Drugs

There are several interaction effects that can occur if the diclofenac sodium content in Cataflam is taken together with certain drugs, including:

  • Increased toxic effects of digoxin, lithium, cyclosporine, or methotrexate
  • Increased blood levels of Cataflam when taken with voriconazole
  • Decreased effectiveness of Cataflam when used with rifampicin
  • Decreased blood pressure lowering effect and increased risk of kidney damage if used with diuretic drugs, ACE inhibitor or ARB
  • Increased risk of bleeding if taken with drugs selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), anticoagulants, such as warfarin, or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including aspirin

Cataflam Side Effects and Dangers

Side effects that can arise after taking drugs containing diclofenac sodium include:

  • Nauseous

  • Drowsiness
  • Heartburn

Check with a doctor if the complaints mentioned above do not go away or get worse. See your doctor right away if you have an allergic reaction to a drug or a serious side effect, such as:

  • Infrequent urination or very little urine
