For example, in people with lupus, people who spend a lot of time indoors, or suffer from digestive disorders that make vitamin D difficult to absorb by the body.

Vitamin D both in the form of vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 can also be used as a treatment and prevention against several diseases, including:

1. Treat and prevent rickets and osteomalacia

Vitamin D3 can be used to treat and prevent rickets and osteomalacia. Both conditions are caused by a deficiency of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus.
